Acute toxicity of 4-nitro-3-(trifluoromethyl)phenol (TFM) to the early life history stages of the Salamander mussel (Simpsonaias ambigua)

This research will evaluate the risk of TFM exposure to the early life history stages of Simpsonaias ambigua (Salamander mussel). This species was proposed for federal listing in August 2023. Our objectives are to assess the acute toxicity of TFM to: (1) <24-hour old glochidia, (2) <14-day old juveniles, and (3) ~2- to 5-month-old subadults. The data obtained in this study will provide resource managers with critical information to assess the risk of TFM to early life history stages of S. ambigua.
